In reply to Cynthia R Hutcherson. Hi Cynthia. I can't say for sure. I was certainly driving I-10 in the 1990's, and it was there. I also traveled that route all through the 80's but can't remember stopping there. I think the rest station was always there, but possibly at the time you visited, you were seeing it be remodeled. I am trying to.find out if this welcome center opened in 93 or 94. My dad was a truck driver and on a trip with him, we stopped and it had just opened. There was packed dirt and almost no grass at the time. I know because I was playing in the sprinklers and slipped on packed earth and landed on my rear end. I am just trying to narrow down when we went on that trip. Thank you.

After 2020, I think we all want to get out and travel more! “Keels and Wheels” sounds like a LOT of fun! I’m missing Texas, and it will not be until November that I get to visit my home state again.

We are going to visit family in Kentucky and do the Derby thing in a few weeks. But by the fall we are traveling to Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska, Wyoming, Arizona, New Mexico, TEXAS, then on back home! Eight weeks in all! I have never traveled for so many weeks before, and I think when it is all said and done, we will put on over 5,500 miles! I must admit, I’m excited and a little nervous as well because I’m the primary driver of the Class A. Yikes!

We’re looking forward to travelling this year, too. So far we’ve been to Port A. and to Waco. At the beginnig of May we’ll be at the “Keels and Wheels” in Seabrook/TX, and later in May in Port A. again. Nothing further planned, but we’ll definitely be on the road more.

In reply to Pit. Thanks, Pit! (Sorry I am just now seeing your comment). Thanks for the comments and well wishes. Travel is a big part of my life, and I'm looking forward to a few major trips I'll be taking this year. I'm sure I'll learn a lot by driving such a big rig! Happy Trails!
