   We have Glamped our Casita, it is called Copper Top, as we painted
   The top copper. Inside I have agates, leather and burlap fringe as valences!

   1. Hi Mary Jane. Your copper top paint job sounds wonderful! As do your valances! I’m glad to hear you enjoyed the photos, unfortunately I sold my Casita last summer, a year after I purchased the Shasta. I probably should have just kept both, but it was sitting unused. It now lives is the Appalachians. I miss it. Maybe the rally can be a Shasta / Casita rally! 😊

      1. We just attended the 2019 Bluebonnet Rally, but had to cut it short. Our “Copper Top” definitely lets people know who we are at the fiberglass rally.
         We were in Arlington KOA and met someone who recognized our RV Copper Top and came to say “Hello”. Are you in a big rig traveling the country?

         1. Hi MJ, We do have a motorhome that we use for long distant trips, but also have a Shasta. Love my Shasta but miss the Casita. It is a great travel trailer, hands down. Thanks for stopping by!

3. Someone posted your blog site on the Casita owners facebook page. I have admired every project. My casita is still just like when we got it from the factory. We still have jobs that take most of our time. I look forward to the time when I can make it a little homier. Waiting for the window treatments

   1. Thank you, that someone was my husband. He’s my biggest supporter! 🙂 I’m glad you are enjoying the projects. The one nice thing about the Casita is she is a great looking camper in her original design. But, of course, a glamper must add her own style. 😉

      We are currently camping in the Casita in Indiana. It is very cold here, and as Texans, we have been worried about how we, and the camper, would do. But it is wonderful! The heater/ac works so well at keeping our little space warm, we cannot use full heat! It gets too hot!

4. I am loving your posts. I do have a question. How did you tackle painting your “brand”?

   1. Thank you. As for your question about “brand,” I going to assume you a referring to my logo (Padilly logo you see on the tire cover).

      Whenever I pass through Amarillo, I have to stop by the Cadillac Ranch, and add my art for the moment. If you notice in the right column of my blog, you will see several of my Instagram pictures. One of them shows Padilly spray painted on one of the Cadillacs. From there the photo goes into Photoshop and then Illustrator to make it “Texas sized.”

      If that was not the “brand” you were referring to, please let me know, and I will try again. 🙂

5. Mrs Padilly I stumbled upon you sight and watch with interest your dressing up the interior. We changed our 2003 SD as well to suite our needs and lifestyle. I thought I would mention two Casita specific websites you might want to join or view if you have not already done that. They are http://www.casitaforum.com and http://www.casitaclub.com. Both are technical and social sights, however the casitaforum.com seems to be more in depth and technical about the “mods” they have made to their “eggs” some are functional and some are aesthetic. The casitaclub.com tends to be more of a social sight. Then there is http://www.fiberglasrv.com which embraces all of the fiberglass RV (many vintage) that have ever been made.

   I suggest these sights in that many of the owners might like to follow your “glamping” of your free range egg. So if nothing else you might join, introduce yourself and your site/blog. Others have shared their blogs on these sights.

   I would like to make a guess on your home page logo with the outline of the state of Texas and the spray painted Padilly in the center…………….Cadillac Ranch in Armadillo?

      Yes, you are correct, my logo was created from one of my trips to the Cadillac Ranch (a giant version is on the tire cover of my Casita). I live 10 hours from the ranch, but whenever I’m passing through, I always feel a need to stop and add my mark to the art of the day! 🙂 Are you from that region of Texas?

      Thank you for the club information. I did register with the Casita Club, but have not participated yet because of the work I was doing on my camper, but I was not aware of the other two! I will check them out and join. I not only like to share what I have done with my camper, but I love to see what others do to theirs!!!

         We live at the top of the hill country in Somervell County, just west of Glen Rose that is best known for dinosaur tracks. We have some other great reasons to visit the area.

         I have a young son & we have had many adventures using our Casita as a “portal” for the past 7 years. We often travel long distances from central Texas, especially to escape the heat of summer. So we often travel thru Amarillo heading north. In the past I have used “Roadside America” for interesting places to stop for short periods of time to break up a long trip. Cadillac Ranch is one of his favorites.

         You will find one of the best parts of your Casita is the “Casita Family” it is a wonderful group of owners that in general are very willing to help, suggest, advise and assist. I would suggest one of the rallies in the future. The largest is Bluebonnet in April, usually in Bandera, TX with right at 100 Casitas or other fiberglass campers. Then Pineknot in the fall, they limit it to 80 campers. There are a number of smaller rallies in neighboring states and many folks have “informal” gatherings as they get to know each other via the forums or rallies.

         I look forward to following your glamping of your Casita.

         1. The Hill Country is my favorite part of Texas, and what a wonderful way to spend time with your son. In the 90’s I would take my then young daughter to Fredericksburg, and the Hill Country at least once a year. Wonderful memories.

            Clover, how does one go about finding out more about the Bluebonnet rally in Bandera? We would love to attend that one in the spring!

6. Where are the new pictures of the glamp makeover? Dying to see them! And also, do you have any idea how much it cost or where the exterior paint job was done? Looking into this myself 😉

   1. The paint job on the Casita was done by the original (previous) owner. It is a Polyurethane; of the quality you would use on a boat or airplane. It is a very hard surface, and it is obvious it was professionally done, but I do not know where it was completed or what that cost would be.

      As for the makeover, the first post will go live next week, followed by a post each week until the makeover is done. I will not only be showing pictures of the transformation, but the how-to’s as well.

      It’s taken me a little longer than I thought on this project, but it’s finally done, and I look forward to your input and questions during the posts on this series. 🙂

7. Hi there. Just found your blog recently. I own a 16 ft Casita that is almost 20 years old. I have not used it in 10 years and really have forgotten how to work everything in it and need a brochure from the company at this point. I was going to sell it a few months ago but decided to transport 3 of my 6 dogs in it across the United States from Seattle to Western North Carolina where I bought a new home. The other 3 dogs and cat will ride in my SUV. Were talking Rotties, Rott Mastiff mix and 2 mixed breeds and a mini Aussie. Should be interesting. I love small spaces and decorated my mobile tiny home that is 8 x 18 feet long and now am inspired to maybe keep my Casita and revamp it for a glamping adventure. I did buy a chandy for it a few years ago, just did not get around to fixing it up. Will be watching to see what you do with your Casita. I love the color by the way. Stands out from the rest.

   1. Howdy! The nice thing about Casitas is they change very little, so they don’t go out of style! I’m still glamping mine up, and will be taking her on her first big trip very soon (Colorado). I’m so glad you will be watching the progress on my Casita. The brown color was put on by the original owner. It certainly makes it stand out from the typically all white Casita, and the color has really grown on me (originally thought about painting it again). So glad you will be following along. Check out my “About” page; I have some links there to some great “Glamping” sites. But watch out, once you join, you quickly get hooked! 😉

9. Everyone seems to call their campers, “eggs”. I was looking at your camper and thinking “oh brown eggs”. I hope you will have many wonderful trips in your little egg! I am still in the wishful stage of wanting my own Casita. Someday!

    1. Thank you, cteachr. I almost considered a vintage 1964 Oasis, but that project was too much for me to handle. The 2006 Casita is more my speed. LOL But my designer side is kicking into high gear. I can’t wait to get started!!!
