Or I should say,

Encouragement Rocks, Kindness Rocks, Souvenir Rocks?

Whatever phrase the results are the same – a smile for their finders.

I created these rocks for an extraordinary trip to an area of Texas I have only seen twice by train, Alpine, Texas.

Alpine is an Amtrak train stop where visitors stop to explore Big Bend National Park, The McDonald Observatory, Marfa lights, and of course, Alpine.

Big Bend Country is what many visitors imagine when they think of Texas. This is partly because of movies such as the 1956 film Giant ~ the Gone with the Wind version of Texas. This is an arid, rugged area with lots of rocks.

The Rock Movement

"DeepI wanted to do something special for this visit, so I decided to create some souvenir rocks with Texas themes that tourists would discover.

Not long ago, I heard about another rock movement called The Kindness Rocks Project. Through this project, members design rocks to spread random acts of kindness; rocks designed to provide a kind word, encourage, or put a smile on someone’s face.

Type in #thekindessrocksproject on Instagram, and you will see what I mean.

Mrs. Padilly’s Souvenir Art Rocks

For this trip to Big Bend Country, I created twelve rocks that represented Texas or gave encouragement, to be left as souvenirs of Texas.

Four of the twelve rocks are my Encouragement rocks. I designed these rocks based on the places I have planned to leave them, places where someone might need some encouragement.

"Mrs.

I designed five other rocks with Texas in mind! Can you guess where some of these might have gone?

Click here to see where I placed my “Cowgirl Up!” rock (then scroll to the bottom of that post).

""

The last three rocks from the twelve are animated, with the rock itself taking on a life of its own.

Like many of you (I hope), I see faces in everything: wallpaper patterns, lines in tiles, and yes, rocks. These are the faces I saw in these three rocks.

"Padilly's

However, this little guy stole my heart the minute I painted him. How can I give him away? I can’t! This little guy will join me on my journey; everyone needs a pet rock.

""

May all your paths be blessed with random acts of kindness.

Happy Trails!
